Sailing Kittiwake - How to Passage Plan

Planning routes anywhere can be strenuous, even if it’s just down the M25 for an obligatory family reunion. For Elena and Ryan on their sailing boat Kittiwake, however, it’s a core part of their everyday life.

This weeks video shows Ryan discussing the factors which affect their passage planning decisions. For example, the need to stop off in a town for a restock on food or fuel. Or, like where they’re headed to at the moment (Villasimius, Sardinia), simply to experience the intrinsic pleasure of a beautiful destination.

Now obviously there’s more to it than that…

Other things to consider, such as protected anchorages, tides, wind direction and speed, all influence decisions on where to go and how long it will take you. Check the video out now to see how they plan their next adventures!
